Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how RouteZA, as part of the Flight Mate Leisure Travel Network (“RouteZA”, “we”, “us” or “our”), processes personal information when you use this website or contact us. We process personal information in accordance with applicable South African data-protection law, including the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”).

1. Information we may process

Depending on how you use the website, we may process contact details you voluntarily provide; correspondence and support enquiries; device, browser, IP address, referral and website-usage information; cookie and similar-technology identifiers; and affiliate/referral information needed to measure partner referrals. RouteZA does not intentionally collect payment-card details through its own website when payment is completed on a third-party booking provider's platform.

2. Purposes and lawful processing

We process information only where there is a lawful basis and for legitimate, specific purposes, including operating and securing the website; responding to enquiries; maintaining records; measuring website and referral performance; preventing fraud or abuse; complying with legal obligations; and, where legally permitted, communicating about relevant services. We do not use personal information for incompatible purposes without an appropriate legal basis.

3. Cookies, analytics and affiliate technologies

The website may use essential cookies and third-party technologies for functionality, analytics, attribution and affiliate referrals, including affiliate technology provider integrations. Where consent is legally required for a non-essential technology, it must not be activated on the basis of consent until that consent has been obtained. You may also control cookies through your browser and any consent controls made available on the website.

4. Third-party booking providers

Flight, hotel and car-hire searches may be supplied by external providers, including external travel-search and referral partners. When you interact with an embedded third-party service or proceed to an external website, that provider may process information under its own privacy terms. RouteZA does not control the provider's independent processing activities and does not receive your payment-card details merely because you complete a transaction on the provider's website.

5. Sharing and operators

We may disclose information to service providers that process information on our behalf, hosting and security providers, analytics or affiliate technology provider providers, professional advisers, competent authorities where required by law, and third parties involved in a corporate reorganisation where lawful. We require appropriate handling of personal information where the recipient acts as our operator.

6. Cross-border processing

Some technology and booking providers may process information outside South Africa. Where POPIA applies to a cross-border transfer for which we are responsible, we will rely on an applicable lawful transfer mechanism and take reasonable steps to protect the information.

7. Security and retention

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the information and risks involved. No internet transmission or storage system is absolutely secure. We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose collected, legal or regulatory obligations, dispute management, security, fraud prevention and legitimate recordkeeping, after which it is deleted, destroyed or de-identified where appropriate.

8. Your rights

Subject to POPIA and other applicable law, you may request access to personal information we hold about you, request correction or deletion where applicable, object to certain processing, withdraw consent where processing depends on consent, and lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator. Identity verification may be required before we act on a request.

9. Direct marketing

We will not send unsolicited electronic direct marketing contrary to POPIA. Where consent is required, marketing will be sent only on an appropriate lawful basis, and communications will provide a reasonable means to opt out. Withdrawing marketing consent does not prevent service or transactional communications that are otherwise lawful and necessary.

10. Children

The website is intended for general travel research and is not designed to solicit personal information directly from children. Where children's personal information is processed, it will be handled only as permitted by applicable law.

11. Changes

We may update this policy to reflect changes in law, technology, providers or our processing activities. The current version and effective date will be published on this page.

12. Privacy contact

Privacy and personal-information requests may be sent to support@flightmateza.co.za or delivered to 0D Dennis Road, Lone Hill, Sandton, Gauteng, 2062, South Africa. Telephone/WhatsApp: +27 66 442 2313.
